    Chornobyl NPP reports on the completed work

    12.04.2025 High-level delegation visited Chornobyl NPP and the Exclusion zone: The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine.

    A significant part of the working visit was devoted to the opening of a photovoltaic power plant in Chornobyl town, which is ready for commissioning and connected to the unified energy system of Ukraine. In total, it consists of 2244 monocrystalline solar modules on an area of 13 thousand square meters. The plant's capacity is 762 kWh of clean energy, which will be used to meet partially needs of Chornobyl town, the facilities of the SSE CSE.

    Thanks to cooperation with the IAEA, Chornobyl NPP obtained important equipment

    The equipment received under the IAEA technical cooperation project is intended to test concrete for frost resistance with an operating temperature of -20 - 50⁰С. It can significantly accelerate the technological process of reinforced concrete containers manufacturing used in the process of liquid radioactive waste management at the Chornobyl NPP.

    The accelerated method of determining the frost resistance index in the technological process of shielded containers manufacturing for treated LRAW storage allows reducing the time for concrete testing from 100 days to 20 days.

    X International Conference on Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Recovery (INUDECO 2025) will be held

    On the 25-26th, the 29th -30rd of April 2025, the X International сonference on Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Recovery (INUDECO 2025) will be held.
    The conference has been holdin in Slavutych since 2016 as part of the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Chornobyl accident.
     
    More than 900 scientists and practitioners from 20 worlds’ countries took part in the conference, which is held in Slavutych, the satellite town of Chornobyl NPP. Every year, the representatives
    of about 50 institutions take part in the event.

    A delegation of high-ranking officials from France visited Chornobyl NPP

    On 3 April, a delegation of French and Ukrainian high-ranking officials visited the Chornobyl NPP industrial site. Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, together with Pierre Heilbronn, Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction  and representatives of the French Embassy in Ukraine, visited critical ChNPP facilities and the results of the Russian drone hit in the NSC. The guests visited the premises under the New Confinement Arch, the North Garage of the main crane system as well as the dry spent fuel storage facility (ISF-2). In particular, the delegation visited the “Solar Chornobyl-1” solar power plant located on the industrial site.

    A meeting on EZ humanitarian demining was held at Chornobyl NPP

    On 31 March 2025, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravaynyi held a meeting at the ChNPP site with the heads of enterprises located in the Exclusion zone and the zone of unconditional (mandatory) resettlement to discuss strategies for humanitarian demining measures implementation, which is an important stage for the development of scientific and industrial activities in the Chornobyl zone.

    The Ministry of Economy emphasises the importance of humanitarian demining for the Chornobyl zone and development, as well as for the fulfilment of Ukraine's international obligations in the field of mine action.
